Subliminal Landmines [Interview]

Who inspired you to make music?

What really inspired all of us to want to make music is definitely type of music we grew up on such as Green Day, Blink-182, Alkaline Trio, Rancid, and many more. Most of all though, we thoroughly enjoy writing and playing music that everyone can enjoy. There’s no better feeling than playing original songs live and watching the crowd thoroughly enjoy the music and performance.

What is your creative process like? Do you start with lyrics? Instruments? Concept?

The songs usually start off with either the guitar first and then the lyrics or the lyrics first and then the guitar. After those are written then we get together and write the drums and bass to it afterwards. After we have a general idea of how we want the song to sound then we work out all the kinks and add things here and there as needed.

What do you feel is the best song you have released/written and why?

I think for us the best song that we have written and released would probably have to be “Where’s My Coke?”. It’s fast, catchy, has a good message behind it, and it is one of our more popular tracks!

What is the best advice you’ve been given?

The best advice we have ever been given in regards to being a musician is to not give up and just keep doing what we are doing. It takes time to develop as a band and grow a fanbase so as long as we keep moving forward and getting better that’s all that matters

If you could be any kind of cookie, what would it be and why? (Most important question)

Hmmm Chocolate Chip, because everyone likes it and it can be made many different ways yet it will always taste good!

How do you feel the Internet has impacted the music business?

It has definitely made things easier for independent artists to do more on their own. It has also made it easier to make income from music because everything is being streamed these days.

If you could change anything about the industry, what would it be?

If we could change anything, I guess it would have to be the response rate from venues on booking at their establishments. Not all venues respond which can definitely effect the outcome of booking a tour effectively.

What is the most useless talent you have?

The most useless talent that that we have would have to be having the ability to flip things and catch them. It can be useful at times but its overall just fun to do!

When you’re done with music, what do you want people to think when they talk about you and your work?

Lets hope that we are never done making music. But if it ever comes to that point hopefully people still say positive things about us and that they talk about how much our music got stuck into their heads.

What is your most recent project/upcoming project?

Our most recent release was our new album ‘Gibberish’ that we released back in October of 2020. We are currently preparing for shows but new songs are possibly in the works!
